Can Dogs Eat Teriyaki Sauce? No — Garlic and Extreme Sodium Are Toxic

This food is NOT safe for dogs. Keep it away from your pet.

Teriyaki sauce is not safe for dogs. It contains high sodium, sugar, and garlic — a combination that is toxic from multiple angles. The garlic causes hemolytic anemia and the sodium causes ion poisoning with significant amounts.

Warning Signs & Symptoms

Garlic: hemolytic anemia. Extreme sodium: ion poisoning. High sugar: blood sugar spike. Ginger in some varieties: generally safe but adds to digestive load.

What You Need to Know

Teriyaki sauce is made from soy sauce, sugar, mirin, and garlic — occasionally ginger. The soy sauce base is extremely high in sodium. The garlic content adds hemolytic anemia risk. The sugar load causes blood sugar disruption. Teriyaki chicken from restaurants or takeout exposes dogs to all these ingredients simultaneously. Never give dogs teriyaki-seasoned food.
