What You Need to Know
Snickers combines milk chocolate (theobromine toxicity) peanuts and nougat (very high fat — pancreatitis risk) and caramel (extreme sugar load) into one of the more dangerous candy bar combinations for dogs. While peanuts are generally safe for dogs in plain form the peanuts in Snickers are combined with chocolate caramel and nougat in a very high fat high sugar matrix. Small dogs eating Snickers face real chocolate toxicity risk. All dogs face significant pancreatitis risk from the extreme fat content. Call your vet if your dog has eaten Snickers especially if the dog is small.
