Did you know?

Eucalyptus is native to Australia where it makes up approximately 75% of the continent's forests. The name comes from the Greek eu (well) and kalypto (to cover) referring to the cap that covers the flower bud before it opens. Koalas are one of the few mammals that can safely eat eucalyptus leaves because they have a specialized liver that detoxifies the eucalyptol — the same compound that makes eucalyptus toxic to dogs. A koala eats approximately 500g of eucalyptus leaves daily.
