Did you know?

Benjamin Franklin famously (though likely apocryphally) suggested the turkey as the national bird of the United States. Wild turkeys can fly at speeds up to 55 mph for short distances despite the domestic turkey's reputation for being flightless. Turkey contains tryptophan which is often blamed for post-Thanksgiving drowsiness but the real culprit is likely the overall calorie load of the meal.

What You Need to Know

Plain cooked turkey breast without skin or bones is safe for puppies and provides excellent lean protein for muscle development. Turkey is a novel protein for many puppies making it useful for puppies showing early sensitivity to chicken. It has a similar nutritional profile to chicken with slightly lower fat content. Remove all skin before cooking for puppies — the fat content is too high. Never give puppies access to holiday turkey which is invariably seasoned with garlic and herbs.
