What You Need to Know

Protein shakes — whether whey, casein, or plant-based — contain protein concentrations far beyond what dogs require. The kidneys must process this excess protein causing significant stress. Sugar-free protein powders and shakes commonly contain xylitol or other artificial sweeteners. Some contain caffeine or amino acid stimulants. Never give dogs protein shakes in any form.
